Love was in the air last weekend at the Thakkar & Thakkar Valentine’s Tournament — at least from a tennis definition standpoint, anyway.

Thirty-four mixed doubles teams braved some chilly weather in making the 21st annual Thakkar & Thakkar Valentines Tournament a big success at the Country Club of Sebring. Teams played opening-round matches on Saturday and then semifinals and finals matches on Sunday.

Sponsored by the Highlands County Tennis Association, the tournament concluded with the annual awards dinner at Chicane’s Restaurant on Sunday evening.

The tournament traditionally draws players of all ages as the HCTA is a big supporter of youth tennis in Highlands County, including the local high school teams, according to HCTA membership chairperson Laurie Wohlers. This year, the event drew 21 students from grade school to college.

Winners, broken down by division, were:

DIVISION A: T. C. Lackey and Kitty Caroline Lackey defeated Bruce Wyse and Linda Hahn 6-1, 6-2. CONSOLATION: Nini Kiszivath and Joy Hines defeated Joe Anderson and Carey Smith by default due to illness.

DIVISION B: Milind Khurana and Lindsey Griffin defeated James Pinkney and Rosa Waters 7-5, 6-0. CONSOLATION: Cody Crivello and Cassy Rios defeated Dante Lepe and Ashley Castelli 6-3, 6-3.

DIVISION C: Phoebe Lackey and Rohin Patel defeated Nick and Nancy O’donohue 7-5, 4-6, (10-5). CONSOLATION: Rob and Kim Reed defeated Trace Lackey and Kitty Lackey 6-4, 6-7 (7-4), (10-7).
